The MR12 Loss Bonus System

Master the fundamentals. Read through the briefing below, then prove your knowledge in the final capstone quiz to secure your rewards.

In CS2’s MR12 format (First to 13 wins), there are fewer rounds in a half. This means a single bad purchase can financially ruin your team for the next three rounds. To manage money, you must understand the "Loss Bonus."

Every time you lose consecutive rounds, your team is awarded more money to help you catch up.

đź’ˇ The $2,000 Half-Buy Rule

When you are on a 3-round loss streak ($2,400 incoming), always keep your bank above $2,000 after your purchases. This guarantees you will have at least $4,400 the next round—exactly enough for a full rifle buy and utility.

The CT Global Bonus: If a Counter-Terrorist gets a kill, the individual player gets the standard weapon reward (e.g., $300 for a rifle), but the entire CT team also receives a shared $50 bonus. This makes hunting for exit frags highly lucrative for the defense.
