Lesson 3/3 Optimization & Settings Pending

Windows & system latency

Master the fundamentals. Read through the briefing below, then prove your knowledge in the final capstone quiz to secure your rewards.

Your in-game settings mean nothing if your operating system is strangling your hardware. The final step to maximizing your performance is reducing your overall system latency—the time it takes from your mouse click to the gun firing on your monitor.

Nvidia Reflex Low Latency (Enabled + Boost) This is the most important new setting in CS2. Reflex optimizes the render pipeline between your CPU and your GPU to eliminate input lag.

  • If your GPU is constantly maxed out at 99% usage, use Enabled + Boost.

  • If you have a very powerful GPU, standard Enabled is perfectly fine.

Nvidia Control Panel Tweaks Right-click your desktop, open the Nvidia Control Panel, and navigate to "Manage 3D Settings". Make sure you have these two options set:

  • Power Management Mode: Set this to Prefer Maximum Performance. This stops your graphics card from trying to save electricity while you are clutching a 1v3.

  • Low Latency Mode: Turn this Off in the control panel. CS2's in-game Nvidia Reflex completely overrides this setting, and having both on can cause conflicts
